Thomas (Tommy) Singer (born 1940 - May 31, 2014)
He is one of the most regarded silversmiths in Navajo history having created the ‘CHIP INLAY’ an intricate use of turquoise and coral chips integrated in to the silver work. This method made Mr. Singer famous world around in the 60’s. He is known for his overlay work, storyteller pieces, rug patterns and traditional motifs.
Navajo earrings made with Spiny oyster oval at the top of this earring with a beautiful piece of black widow turquoise oval dangled from the bottom. Sterling silver twisted rope design surrounds both pieces, with a 5 rain drop bead cluster at the bottom. One of Betty's signature trade marks. The oval spiny oyster measure approximately 14.7 mm long x 10 mm wide without the silver work, the turquoise oval cabochon measures approximately 18.8 mm long x 13.9 mm wide without the silver work. Overall length of the earring is approximately 44 mm. Earrings weigh about 6.5 grams each for a combined weigh of 13 grams. Earrings are stamped Navajo B.
