Best Quality London side lock (self opening) double barrel S x S shotgun by Peter Chapman (formerly of Purdey’s) in 20 gauge with luggage case, serial #0040. The gun shows original single trigger, auto ejectors,English style straight stock with checkered butt, blue and case hardened finished with fine engraving in tight scrolls and floral motif. The barrels measure 28” in length, .08 choked left about skeet and .04 rightalso skeet. The left barrel measures .035 in wall thickness and so does the right. The stock measures 14-7/8” to the end of the checkered wood butt with a 2-1/2” drop at heel, 1-5/8” drop at comb, slight cast 7/8”at heel and ½” at toe. The gun remains in fine to near excellent condition with 95-98% original blue on barrels, 95-98% case hardening on action, 80-90% on trigger guard that is thinning and toning. The stocks arefine to excellent. The bores are slightly dirty but are at least very good plus and should clean to excellent. The gun shows 1985 proof date and is in current proof. The ejectors need adjustment and slight repair.
