Best English quality bolt-action sporting rifle on prewar Mauser action by DWM. Signed Holland & Holland #33 Bruton, St. London. 22-1/2” barrel, fully stocked in Mannlicher style, select figured walnut stock, nicelycheckered, monte carlo cheek piece, mounted with European style sling swivels, finely engraved floorplate showing portrait of Cape Buffalo on center, engraved “4 Cartridges” on hinge, and hand engraved “3955C” ontriggerguard. The rifle shows flush gold inlays at the breech denoting caliber, “.375 H&H caliber rimless”. The rifle shows folding sights marked for 150, 100, and 50 yards and shows a folding cover for front sight. Thepistol grip cap is case hardened, nicely engraved with a trap and contains an extra front sight. The rifle is finely blued and shows a satin finish stock with leather covered English type recoil pad. Thebuttstock is inlaid in the owner’s plaque in the belly which is inlaid with the initials “RJA”. The rifle measures 44-1/8” overall, stock measures 14” from the trigger to the end of the wood.
