Wrightson's work on <B>Swamp Thing</B></I> catapulted him into comic book history. His images are, at first glance, a brilliant maze of lines, that form symbiotic shapes from negative space. But, if one looks closer, the genius of composition and expressive shadow and highlight bubbles to the cryptic surface. Wrightson's art on the Frankenstein graphic novel is the pinnacle of his work. This piece is a wonderful example of his intricate detail and methodical placement of line at its gothic best. Each element of the composition is a work of art in its own right. The title lettering, central image, and exquisite border are captivating images that compel the viewer to look closer so as not to miss any of the information that is buried in a seemingly endless succession of lines. This wonderful piece measures 17.5" x 24" and is in excellent condition without the use of corrective white-out. There is minor foxing along the top and bottom margins and there is tape residue along the top edge where a protective cover sheet was once attached. This piece is signed along the bottom edge of the image area, "To Rich - All the Best" along with Berni Wrightson's signature. <B>Estimate: $10,000-up</B> </FONT></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE><BR><!--<a name="PricesRealized"></a> <table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" bgcolor="#000000"> <tr> <td width="100%"> <table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="1" cellpadding="3"> <tr> <td width="100%" bgcolor="#79735C"> <a name="PR"> <font face="arial" size="3" color="#FFFFFF"> <b>Previous Prices from Heritage Auctions</b> </td> </tr> <tr> <td bgcolor="#F6F6ED"> No Prior Data Recorded </td> </tr> <tr> <td bgcolor="#FFFFFF"> <font face="arial" size="1""> PLEASE NOTE: All prices realized reflect the final hammer price PLUS the buyer's premium in auctions that charge a buyer's premium.
