Distinguished, Academy Award–winning American composer and conductor (1911–1975) who, over the course of four decades, earned a place among the influential figures in the field of film music. Among his most notable achievements are the scores for such iconic classics as Citizen Kane, Psycho, and Taxi Driver. DS, four pages, 8.5 x 11, June 15, 1957. Agreement between Herrmann and CBS Records for Herrmann to”write and compose certain original music…CBS Television shall pay Artist a fee of…$1250.00.” Signed on the last page by Herrmann. Small detached rider lists 14 arrangements with “Police Force” written in pencil in an unknown hand below Herrmann’s initials. Some scattered light damp staining and rusty staples to one edge, otherwise fine condition. Herrmann wrote for CBS the Police Force suite that was used as part of CBS's Music Library of ‘stock" music (meant for tracking into shows in lieu of an original score).
