For bidding in this lot is an Italian Army captured Beretta Model 1934 pistol, chambered in 9x17mm Corto - More popularly known as the .380 ACP. The pistol is from the Fascist Era, and is marked with "XV" indicating its manufacture year of 1937. The pistol was used extensively in World War Two by the Italian, German, and Romanian forces. Due to the wide spread use by the Axis Powers, these pistols became incredibly popular as War Time prizes with American, and British troops, due to their relatively small size, and their hefty build quality. The pistol is marked in numerous places, most notably on the left side of the frame, to the right of the grip panel, reading "R.E" (Regio Esercito), indicating its issue to the Italian Army. Additionally, the pistol is marked on the left side of the slide with "P. BERETTA-Cal.9 CORTO-Mo1934-BREVETTATO" over "GARDONE V.T 1937-XV", Serial Number: "567886" on the right side of the slide, and on the right side of the frame, and lastly with two proof marks to the right of the left grip panel, and the lower right of the left grip panel, by the lanyard loop. The fine firearm utilizes a 3.7" barrel, blue'd finish, original hard plastic Beretta grips, 7+1 detachable box magazine, thumb safety, and standard Western style sights. Overall, the pistol shows very good mechanical and aesthetic condition. Cosmetically, the pistol displays very good grips, and good finish retention, with a natural holster wear on the hard edges of the slide, and frame. Mechanically, the pistol has a strong action, and a very bright bore, with strong rifling. This pistol is a must have for any Militaria collector! The pistol was manufactured in 1937, and qualifies as a Curio & Relic Hand Gun, and REQUIRES FFL Transfer or NICS Background Check. Serial Number: 567886.
