Major general in the Continental Army (1733–1810) during the American Revolutionary War, known as the officer who formally accepted the British surrender at Yorktown. Revolutionary War–dated ALS signed “Benj. Lincoln,” one page, 7.5 x 4, August 3, 1776. One month after the adoption of the Declaration of Independence, Lincoln writes to "Mr. Devens," in full: "You will deliver to Mr. Edward Blanchard ye stores I just mentioned to you to find to Dorchester heights & take his receipt." In very good to fine condition.
