Partly-printed DS as president, signed “Benj. Harrison,” one page, 15.5 x 12.5, February 15, 1890. President Harrison appoints James P. Jones to the position of Postmaster of Batesville, Arkansas. Signed at the conclusion by Harrison, and countersigned by Postmaster General John Wanamaker. Double matted, with an unrelated red, white, and blue ribbon, to an overall size of 21.5 x 18.5. Scattered light toning and foxing, and some light vertical ripples, otherwise fine condition. The gold foil seal is worn, but intact, and the document retains its original red ribbon.
