Hardcover autograph album, 7.5 x 7.5, entitled “Autographs President of the United States and Cabinet, Governors of the States and Territories 1889.” Affixed to the inside front cover is a note from the original collector, which reads, in part: “My autographs of the President and Vice President…and members of the Cabinet have been arranged in order of priority, and those of the 13 original states…and the balance of the states as they were admitted to the Union.” Signed inside on individual off-white cards by 57 politicians, with each card removably inserted on an individual page. Signers include: Benjamin Harrison, Levi Morton, James Blaine (Secretary of State), William Windom (Secretary of the Treasury), Redfield Proctor (Secretary of War), William H. H. Miller (Attorney of General), John Wanamaker (Postmaster General), B. F. Tracy (Secretary of the Navy), John W. Noble (Secretary of the Interior), J. M. Rusk (Secretary of Agriculture), J. B. Gordon, Fitzhugh Lee, and Simon B. Buckner. Remainder of the signatures are of various state governors and politicians. Signatures rate in fine condition, with book rating very good, with fragile spine, and scattered wear to covers and spine. A meticulously-put-together collection.
