Rare Revolutionary War–dated manuscript DS, signed “Benj. Harrison” and "Chas. Washington," one page both sides, 6 x 7.5, October 16–17, 1776. Ledger page filled with manuscript receipt entries, the second one signed by Harrison and the third signed by Washington. Harrison certifies that he "Rec'd one hundred pounds as a Delegate to Gen'l Congress," and Washington confirms his receipt of "one hundred & four pounds for pay of my Comp'y of Militia called into Duty on Potowmack in July & when call'd to Williamsburg." Other entries on the page relate to payment for militia companies, naval carpenters, and "a gun purchased by Wm. Murray for the public." Professionally inlaid into a larger sheet and in fine condition.

Benjamin Harrison V was a signer of the Declaration of Independence from Virginia (1726–1791) who was the father of President William Henry Harrison and great-grandfather of President Benjamin Harrison. Charles Washington (1738–1799) was the youngest brother of George Washington, a vocal opponent of the Stamp Act of 1765, and involved himself in local Virginia politics.
