TLS signed “Benj. Harrison,” one page, 8 x 10.5, personal letterhead, January 5, 1901. Letter to John M. Lansden, in full: "I beg to thank you for the kind words you say about my article in the North American Review. I agree with you that the question is one of supreme importance. We seem as a nation to be standing at the parting of the ways." Harrison has marked the letter "Private" in the upper left corner. In fine condition, with some splitting to the intersecting folds. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope. Just two months after writing this letter, Harrison succumbed to pneumonia at his home in Indianapolis on March 13, 1901, at the age of 67.
