TLS as the Republican presidential nominee, signed “Benj. Harrison,” one page, 8.5 x 5.25, personal letterhead, September 8, 1888. Letter to George W. Roberts of Philadelphia, in full: “Your note of Sept. 6th. advising me of my election as an honorary member of the First Protective Tariff Club of Philadelphia, has been received. Please accept for yourself and your club my cordial thanks for the honor they have conferred upon me.” In very good condition, with old tape stains along the vertical folds. Two months later, Harrison was elected President of the United States of America.
