Partly-printed DS as president, signed “Benj. Harrison,” one page, 8 x 10, December 10, 1889. President Harrison directs the "Secretary of State to cause the Seal of the United States to be affixed to two (2) envelopes addressed to His Majesty Alexander III Emperor of Russia, on the marriage of the daughters of His Highness the Reigning Prince of Montenegro to the Duke of Leuchtenberg and the Grand Duke Peter Nicolaiewitch on the 16th of August and the 26th of July respectively." In fine condition. On July 26, 1889, Grand Duke Peter Nikolaevich of Russia married Princess Milica of Montenegro. On August 16th, George Maximilianovich, 6th Duke of Leuchtenberg married Grand Duchess Maria Nikolaevna of Russia. A significant diplomatic document from the Harrison administration.
