Manuscript vellum DS, signed “B. Franklin,” one page, 15.5 x 13.25, May 30, 1787. Franklin, as President of the Supreme Executive Council of Pennsylvania grants Peter Millhouse “A Certain Tract of Land called ‘Milltown’ Situate on the Waters of Elk Lick Creek in Brothers Valley Township Bedford County.” Signed in the left border by Franklin under the large embossed eight-point seal and countersigned by James Trimble. Moderate intersecting folds, scattered toning and wrinkling, and first initial of signature a bit light, and a few minor spots, otherwise very good condition. On May 30, 1787, the day Benjamin Franklin signed this document, it was proposed at the fourth day of the Constitutional Convention, meeting in another part of the building, ‘That a national Government ought to be established consisting of a supreme Legislative, Executive & Judiciary.’
