Benitoite Rough & Extracted Geological Samples
Featured in this lot is this Benitoite rough and extracted geological samples from San Benito Co. CA mine. There are nine extracted samples and four rough samples in this collection. There is one cut polished and faceted natural unheated Benitoite gemstone that is oval cut. The rough samples are set in stone with natrolite and extractable samples of benitoite. The extracted benitoite is shown in sample jars and display boxes and show separated from other minerals. benitoite is a rare and highly prized mineral, known for its striking blue color and rarity, particularly in gem-quality specimens. It holds a special place in the world of mineralogy and gemology. Due to its vibrant color, rarity, and high refractive index (which gives it great sparkle), benitoite is cut into faceted gemstones, primarily for use in high-end jewelry. Its relative softness, however, means it is best suited for pieces that will not be subjected to rough wear, like pendants and earrings. Benitoite's rarity, combined with its stunning color and brilliance, makes it a gem of great interest to both gemologists and collectors. Its association with a specific locality and its designation as California's state gem further enhance its allure. The condition of this collection of Benitoite is well preserved with some dirt adorning the rough samples but the extracted samples are well preserved in display cases. The measurements of this collection of samples is 1/8" in length to 2 1/4" x 2 1/2" x 1 3/4". The collective weight of this collection of samples is 6oz.
