American transportation businessman (1819-1887) known as the ‘Stagecoach King’ until his routes were taken over by Wells Fargo in 1866. Oregon & California Rail Road Company business check, 9 x 3.25, filled out in another hand and signed by Holladay, payable to Geo. W. Weidler for $2000.00, November 23, 1870. In very good condition, with three vertical folds, one passing through a single letter of the signature, scattered toning, with heavier areas along the edges, and the expected cancellation stamps, none of which affect the signature.
