<Our item number 138147><B>Ben-Gurion, David.</B> Autograph letter signed &#40;&#34;D. Ben-Gurion&#34;&#41;, 1p, 8 x 5 in., in Hebrew, on ruled paper, Sdeh Boker, 24 April 1971. To P.Z. Hartal, veteran of the Six Day War, artist, poet, and author of &#34;The Brush and the Compass&#34; and &#34;Toldot HaAdrichalut&#34; &#40;A History of Architecture&#41;. Fine; uneven right margin with darker, toned area and two small edge tears. Accompanied by English translations of Ben-Gurion&#39;s letter and of Mr. Hartal &#39;s letter to him.<BR><BR>Ben-Gurion replies to Mr. Hartal&#39;s suggestion that, as an alternative to the Third Temple, which could not yet be erected, a religious shrine of Judaism should be built in Jerusalem, on the Mount of Olives, and that this shrine would serve as a counterbalance to Muslim and Christian architecture in that part of Jerusalem.<BR><BR>&#34;To Mr. Zev Hartal Peace and Greetings, Until the Third Temple will be built after the coming of the Messiah--there is the need to build in Je rusalem the House of the Bible--and this a project under consideration.
