Belgium Flintlock pistol signed "Thiermay A Liege" circa about 1760 showing ornate brass mounts. The pistol measures 14-3/4" overall with 8-3/4" barrel of approx. 54 caliber. The metal surfaces have been lightly cleanedlong ago and show some spotting and new type of rust with some minor pitting. The pistol is in its original Flintlock state with correct small parts. The barrel shows Spanish hallmarks that may read "Santos" and Spanish barrels were very highly regarded by high class makers. The stock is a light colored walnut showing good raised carving and molding. The stock has been broken at the wrist and shows restoration. The mounts show cast and high relief scrolls and a dark patina. Thiermay is one of the most recognized names in early Belgium gunsmiths. Est.;$1,400-$2,800.
