Belgian Browning Light Twelve A-5 12 GA Shotgun
Classic Belgian Browning “Light Twelve” marked Auto-5 12 gauge shotgun. This factory engraved example with serial number L 5968 was made in the 1950s and sports a 30” ventilated rib full choke barrel. The barrel is correctly marked “Made in Belgium” along with the Browning patents and address. The receiver shows lovely scroll engraving on the sides, top portion, upper and lower tangs and trigger guard bottom. The pistol grip shows fine checkering and has the classic round knob bottom found on Belgian made Brownings. The fluted forend shows fine checkering also and has one small chip at the rear left side receiver juncture. The receiver top and ventilated rib top have the factory knurled surface to cut glare. The original butt plate is embossed with the “FN” trademark and “BROWNING
AUTOMATIC.” Usually these original butt plates are replaced with recoil pads. Considered one of the
finest auto loading shotguns ever produced, the Browning Auto-5 is in a class by itself. The “Light
Twelve” variation is expecially sought after by both collectors and shooters. This example exhibits
excellent blue on the receiver and barrel. It is mechanically tight with a bright excellent bore. Later
examples of this Browning were made in Japan and lack the panache of the earlier Belgian manufactured shotguns. A class act through and through! This firearm qualifies as a Curio & Relic firearm, and requires FFL Transfer or NICS Background Check.
