Belgian Browining Superposed 20ga over and under shotgun, factory 26-1/2” barrels, choked skeet and skeet, upgraded engraving, silver inlays, fancy carved stock, round knob, long tang, serial number “20158”. The gun remains in very good condition showing 90% thinning restored blue on frame and barrels, and some loss where the forend moves to disassemble and on the front of frame. The frame and barrels show a good quality scroll engraving which is somewhat Germanic in style and there is a raised silver inlay of game birds on each side. The right side of stock is carved in high relief and also has a Germanic appearance. The stocks are good with some slight scratches with some mars to the varnish and have a nice natural light color and appear to have been left original when carved. The interior and action are very good. A thin hard rubber recoil pad has been added. The stock measuers approx. 14-1/4” to the end of the wood, approx. 14-7/8 to the end of the pad. Engraving, carving and gunsmithing were all inexpensive in post-war Europe and this Browning has the appearance of many that were ornamented on custom order for American servicemen in the two decades following the Second World War.
