Lot of 6: 1) Bottle reads, WIELAND`S "LITTLE POP" on the front, CAL BOTTLING CO on the reverse, on this violet colored 7" tall, applied top. Wieland had a brewery in San Francisco at 234 Second Street. 2) Sierra Lager, clear glass, blob top, 11.5" tall with SL logo on slug. Some bubbles. Brewed by Reno Brewing Company, a firm started by three Montana transplants: John Maurer, Peter Dohr, and Jacob Hook. Located at 990 E. 4th Street, they opened for business in July of 1903. 3) Amber Rainier Beer Bottling Works, with crown top. The Rainier Bottling Works started in Reno in 1905, owned by the Seattle Brewing & Malting Company. 4) Bottle from The Tonopah Bottle House, amber with applied top and paper label. 5 & 6) One amber and one clear glass from the Buffalo Brewing Company of Sacramento. The amber is applied top with no cracks or chips evident. Clear is a crown top with some chips at the base. In 1890, Buffalo Brewing Company began brewing beer in Sacramento. The company shut down beer production at the onset of Prohibition and resumed again when the 21st Amendment was ratified. During Prohibition, the brewery survived by brewing "near beer" and soft drinks, as well as producing ice for local distribution. Buffalo Brewery closed its doors for good in 1942 [Ref: Nevada History Through Glass, Fred Holabird, 2012]. - Jacobitz Collection -59624
