Beautifully accomplished original oil painting by noted Western artist Michael Coleman, approx. 5” x 7” image size and framed and matted (11” x 13” overall) showing a scene of Indians by a fire next to two tepees by a stream at sunrise. Alsoaccompanying this lot is a first edition of Peter Hassrick’s work on Coleman’s life and art with 235 pages of Michael’s works on canvas and in bronze. Michael Coleman is well-known throughout the artist community and his work is sought after bymany collectors. In 1978, at the age of 32, he was given his first retrospective at the Buffalo Bill Historical Center. He has exhibited at the Kennedy Galleries in New York and in 1999, he won the Prix de West Award at the national Cowboy Hall of fame for his bronze of a moose titled “September”. An opportunity to own a large book with many of Coleman’s favorite works along with an original painting that is affordable given the prices Coleman’s work commands in larger formats.
