Beautiful large fancy Horsehead pommel George Wostenholm & Son I*XL spear point knife and sheath, approx. 16” overall with a 10-1/4” blade in overall very good to near fine condition showing considerable original polish to the blade with frosting and freckling and the majority of gold wash on both sides of the blade; reverse side with scroll engraving and front side with three panels, the center proclaiming the maker “Geo.e Wostenholm & Son, Sole Manufacturers of the Real IXL Cutlery”, with the left side panel announcing the patriotic saying “THE UNITED STATES, the land of the free and the HOME of the BRAVE protected by her noble and brave VOLUNTEERS”; the right side panel offers the adage “AMERICANS ask for nothing but what is RIGHT and submit to nothing that is WRONG”. The ricasso is marked “I*XL”, the fancy horsehead pommel and matching style cross guard are fitting end pieces for the horn grip with inset shield plaque displaying and engraved eagle. The accompanying leather covered sheath is in overall very good + condition with gold accenting and “I* XL” marking; metal throat and tip are present and in very good condition.
