Beautiful conditioned early Merwin and Hulbert Open Top single action big frame revolver, 44-40 cal., 7” barrel, nickel finish, mottled red gutta percha grips, #11194. This gun is in overall fine condition showing approx. 98% original finish, sharp markings, crisp action, excellent interior showing little firing and a very good bore; traces of case color remain on hammer, trigger and trigger guard; the grips are excellent and the desirable mottled red variation; lanyard ring in butt. These Merwin and Hulbert revolvers were expertly designed and machined by the Hopkins and Allen Co. and were popular on the Western frontier. This is an excellent example of the rare Open Top model and most desirable in the single action configuration. Est.: $5,000-$10,000.
