Beautiful Winston Churchill Autograph Letter Signed. One page, 5.5" x 11", 181 Beacon Street letterhead, England, January 10, 1901. In full: "My Dear Mr. Clemson, How exceedingly rude of me not to answer your work. When you come here I shall take you up into my study and then attempt to make a partial excuse. Can you come over between six and seven tonight? I shall be out tomorrow evening and Saturday- Sincerely Yours Winston Churchill January 10, 1901" Churchill had just arrived back from the United States on a prolonged speaking engagement, One month later, in February, Churchill entered Parliament and became associated with a group of Tory dissidents led by Lord Hugh Cecil and referred to as the Hughligans, a play on "Hooligans". During his first parliamentary session, Churchill provoked controversy by opposing the government's army estimates, arguing against extravagant military expenditure. A very nice early Churchill item. Very fine.1

Condition Report:
