Steamer Cover, 1966, Queen Victoria, 4 Annas, cancelled with a round dispatch seal in black as “BOMBAY | JY 7 | 66 | INDIA PAID”, a “Stamped” mark overlapping the seal, and a parallel lined faded seal on stamp, dispatched from Bombay via steamer “Carnatic” on 7 July 1866 to “ADEN” addressed to “COWASJEE DINSHAW, ESQ | MERCHANT, | STEAM POINT,| ADEN.”, with a round delivery seal in black as “ADEN STR POINT | 21 JY | 66” on the back side, hand endorsed text in Gujarati script on the front side as “૨૧મીજૂલાઈ | ૧૮૬૬”, and marked “Per Steamer” on the top left of the cover, excellent condition, Rare.

Notes: SS Carnatic was a British steamship built in 1862-63 by Samuda Brothers for the Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company and operated on the Suez to Bombay run in the last years before the Suez Canal was opened.
