Beautiful Model 1902 Gold Inlaid Presentation DWM Luger Carbine Complete with Matching Shoulder Stoc
This is an attractive example of very desirable DWM Model 1902 Presentation Luger carbine that is complete with the correct matching walnut shoulder stock. The top of the chamber on this specific luger has been nicely engraved with the intertwined gold inlaid script initials "AB". This lot has no history or documentation as to who "AB" was, however, it certainly would be worth doing additional research on this pistol. These carbines were the first attempts by DWM to compete on the European market with a lightweight rifle substitute. The forearm contains a small spring assembly that engages a small lug on the underside of the barrel, which actually functions as an accelerator to help in cycling the pistol. The top of the chamber has the inlaid initials as noted, and the front toggle has the DWM logo for "Deutsche Waffen und Munitions Fabriken". The frame is the early style with flat mainsprings, grip safety, dished toggles, and flat breech bolt. It is fitted with the correct three position rear sight (adjustable from 100-300 meters) and a ramp front sight. The full serial number (21956) is correctly marked on the frame extension and underside of the barrel. The last two digits of the serial number (56) are marked on the bottom of the recoil lug, grip safety, trigger, takedown lever, side plate, rear of the toggle and breech bolt. The last three numbers are marked on the inside of the forearm and top of the stock iron. The right grip is correctly numbered 56 and the left grip numbered 01, however, they match perfectly in color, wood grain and checkering. The buttstock has a black horn buttplate, and the stock and forearm both are correctly fitted with sling swivels. The magazine is a correct commercial version with the nickel plated body and wood base marked "GERMANY". These pistols were rust blued with straw color on the various small parts. This pistol is complete with a partial box of original 7.65 luger ammunition made by Gustav Genschow company, a spare commercial magazine with the nickel plated body and wooden base and a scarce carbine cleaning rod.
