Beautiful Factory Engraved Pre-World War II Colt Single Action Army Revolver with Carved Ivory Steer Head Grips

This is a beautiful example of first generation engraved prewar Colt Single Action Army revolver manufactured in 1933. This revolver was engraved in a vine and scroll pattern with a light punch dot background mixed with various line borders and geometric pattern that covers approximately 75% of the metal surfaces. The engraved pattern covers the barrel, frame, sides of the cylinder, with the border/geometric pattern on the back strap and trigger guard. The top of the ejector housing is decorated with a simple wavy line and the outer edge with a section of floral scroll with a matte background. The top of the barrel is marked with the short two-line Colt address, with "COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY .45" on the side. The frame is marked with the standard two-line, three patent dates followed by the Rampant Colt. It has matching serial number on all the parts, frame, trigger guard, back strap and cylinder. The loading gate and frame have a matching assembly number "81". It has the standard fixed front and rear sight and is fitted with a set of beautiful steer head carved ivory grips, with the Colt silver medallions. No factory letter is available at time of description, but is obviously genuine.

Excellent with 95% of the blue finish overall with edge and high spot wear with a slight cylinder drag line. The frame and hammer retain 90% plus of their case colors overall fading nicely with age. The grips are in excellent condition with a nice mellow color overall with excellent detail on the carving. Mechanically excellent. Just a wonderful example of a beautiful engraved Colt Single Action Army revolver with carved ivory steer head grips.
