round skirt, 6 string, made for Mrs. Nora Stoddard her initials carve into back of seat. John Stoddard Ranch was located 9 miles south of Sentinel Butte ND, saddle built approx. 1915, purchased from the family many years ago by old time ND collector Doug Janke. A well known sought after saddle to the veteran collectors of ND. Saddle remains in remarkable condition, full floral carved with birds on jockeys, 14 1/2" quilted padded seat , nickel horn, original lining and stitching. Sentinel Saddlery Co. 400 stamped on cinch strap holder, only replaced items are left and right rope straps. Leather remains soft and supple with great color. Sentinel Butte Saddlery was founded by WF Lucas approx. 1900, sold his shop to Lewis F Crawford who expanded into Beach, Belfield and Dickenson ND, later into Glendive, Terry, Baker and Lewiston MT. Outstanding saddle with great ND history, certainly the best if not one of the best Sentinel Butte saddles available, includes fine leather braided quirt marked Gopher Brand on popper. Est. 8000-12000
