Vintage ballpoint signatures, “Beatles, Paul McCartney,” “Ringo Starr,” “George Harrison,” and “John Lennon,” on a light yellow album page. Matted and framed with a photo of the Fab Four exiting their airplane, to an overall size of 13.25 x 20.5. Moderate intersecting folds and creases passing through all signatures, old tape toning along left edge affecting first stroke of Harrison’s signature, and some skipping to Lennon’s signature, otherwise very good condition. Accompanied by a letter of provenance from the original recipient of the signatures, who acquired them by sneaking backstage in between shows at the Coventry Theatre on February 24, 1963: “We were in luck all the way along and through another door into backstage. Immediately in front of us there they stood talking to Kenny Lynch, The Beatles themselves. They had seen us come out of the door so we went up to them and started to talk to them. We asked for their autographs which they gave to us.”

Amazingly, the aforementioned gig featured the Fab Four inconspicuously billed below Helen Shapiro and Lynch. At the time still awaiting their first number-one hit, the scene would change a few weeks later, when “Please Please Me” topped the charts, creating international superstars and making covert encounters such as this one quite scarce.
