Very rare first pressing Parlophone red label copy of the Beatles’ ‘Please Please Me/Ask Me Why’ in its original sleeve, signed on the B-side in black ballpoint by John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr, and also signed on the A-side in black ballpoint by McCartney and Harrison. Accompanied by a letter of provenance from the original recipient which reads, in part: “The Beatles were going to play a lunch time session at the Cavern just after the release of Please Please Me. Some fans started queuing the night before, I went to the Cavern to see them and was lucky to be one of the first ten in the queue. The first ten were all given a signed copy of the record.” Portions of Lennon’s signature very light and partially legible against printing on the label, otherwise fine condition. Record rates in good condition. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Tracks. The single was released on January 11, 1963. The band also held a signing session at the NEMS record shop in Liverpool on January 24, 1963, which is quite possibly where the record was signed.
