Partial backstage performer’s pass for The Great Pop Prom, 2.25 x 3, held on Sept 15, 1963, at the Royal Albert Hall. Signed and inscribed on the reverse in blue ballpoint, “To Jill, love from John Lennon xx,” “Paul McCartney,” “Ringo Starr xxx,” and “George Harrison.” Expected light handling wear, small square punch hole affecting a third “x” after Lennon’s signature, and the top of McCartney’s signature slightly trailing off the side of the pass, otherwise fine condition.

The Beatles topped the bill at the Great Pop Prom, an afternoon show at London's Royal Albert Hall where they shared the program with eleven other acts...including a new up-and-coming band called The Rolling Stones. The ‘prom’ was actually an annual fundraising event for the Printers' Pension Corporation, promoted by the teen magazines Valentine, Marilyn and Roxy. Interestingly, this 1963 affair marked the first of only two occasions when the Beatles and Stones would share a venue. Their paths would cross three years later at the NME Poll Winners Concert. Always a desirable signature grouping, this particular pass is further enhanced by its amazing back story!
