Vintage magazine cover from the February 24, 1964, issue of Newsweek, 8.5 x 11.25, featuring an artist’s rendition of the Fab Four, signed in black ballpoint, “George Harrison,” “Paul McCartney,” “John Lennon,” and “Ringo Starr.” Cover is affixed to an identical size piece of heavy cardstock. Moderate contrast to Harrison’s last name, scattered toning and staining from adhesive on reverse, as well as some moderate overall wrinkling, several noticeable creases, and missing lower left corner tip, otherwise very good condition. Accompanied by a letter of authenticity from noted Beatles expert Frank Caiazzo, stating the signatures date from February/March of 1964.

Newsweek took note when the Beatles landed on America’s shores in 1964, capturing the attention of a generation. While the magazine saw fit to include a cover story (not a very flattering one, however, with the reporter describing the band as “visually...a nightmare” and “musically...a near-disaster,” throngs of screaming kids could have cared less. A generation later, their music survives, as does the their loyal fan base. According to Caiazzo, magazine covers signed by the Beatles are few and far between, as most British fanzines were autographed by the band on interior pages. Furthermore, Caiazzo noted that this is one of only two signed 1964 Newsweek magazine covers he has encountered in his career, making it decidedly rare.
