Exceptional program-style Beatles fan photo book featuring ‘pictures for framing’ published by Pocket Books, Inc., 8.5 x 11, signed on the back cover in blue ballpoint by John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr on the day of their famous Shea Stadium concert in 1965. In fine condition. Accompanied by a letter of authenticity from noted Beatles expert Frank Caiazzo, in part: “This item was signed on August 15, 1965…for Mr. John Lee, who was a Wells Fargo employee whose assignment that day was to take The Beatles into Shea Stadium in his armored truck….He took along one of his daughter Joann’s Beatles fan magazines with the idea of getting the group to sign it….Items signed by the band on this most historic day in their history are extremely rare and desirable, with less than five known examples to date [as of February 2008].” Also includes a letter of provenance from the driver’s daughter Joann, as well as copies of an article in a 1965 issue of the American Express magazine 'Going Places’ about John Lee driving the Beatles, and copies of images of Lee’s badge and truck. The Shea Stadium concert was the largest Beatles show up to that point with an attendance of over 55,000 and it was the subject of a noted documentary that captured the widespread hysteria of American Beatlemania. Extremely rare, with excellent provenance, and signed on a date of utmost importance, this is an absolutely remarkable piece.
