Exceptionally rare complete set of ink signatures from 1969, “John Lennon,” “To Gerald, from Paul McCartney,” “To Gerald, George Harrison,” and “Ringo Starr,” on individual off-white 5.5 x 4.25 album pages. In fine condition. Accompanied by four candid photos of the band members, as well as letters of authenticity from Perry Cox and from noted Beatles expert Frank Caiazzo, in part: “These pages were signed in 1969, and full sets of Beatles signatures from this year are extremely rare and very desirable. This is one of only two or three sets from 1969 I have seen which were signed at the same time, with the same pen. It is also one of the very last sets of Beatles signatures which were signed while they were still together as a group, before their breakup.” The consignor notes that “Gerald” was Gerald Scarfe, a British editorial cartoonist who married McCartney’s one-time girlfriend Jane Asher. He acquired the signatures on August 20, 1969, the last day the Beatles ever recorded together at EMI Studios. As the fragmented band was rarely together by this point in time, complete sets of autographs from this period are incredibly scarce.
