DS signed “P. McCartney,” fourteen pages, 8.5 x 11, October 13, 1985. A manufacturing agreement with Capitol Records covering records, tapes, CDs, and other media. Though the document refers to “16 pages,” the missing last two pages appear to have been nonessential riders or appendices. File and staple holes, a few notations, and light handling wear, otherwise fine condition.

McCartney parted ways with CBS Records in October 1985 and re-signed with Capitol. After this agreement was signed, a record executive was asked about McCartney’s lackluster sales in the 1980s; at the time, his last number-one album in the United States was his 1982 release Tug of War, while 1984’s Give My Regards to Broad Street peaked at number 21. His response was to describe the former Beatle as a “distinguished musical genius” who had a “boffo career and audience before him.” Two weeks later, Capitol released the song “Spies Like Us” which became McCartney’s 100th single to enter the Billboard charts. An interesting glimpse of McCartney as savvy businessman!
