ALS signed “Mimi,” one page both sides, 6 x 8, personal Harbour’s Edge letterhead, September 9, 1981. Interesting letter commenting on several aspects of Lennon’s life. In part: “Thank you for your letter and photograph of John. It is a long time since I saw Liverpool, from what I hear, neither John or I would recognise the place as we know it. The only connection John had with Strawberry Fields, was when we went to the Garden Party. I am told he equipped a Gym for them. I was pleased about that. I knew Stuart Sutcliffe very well, a very talented boy. He was John’s Special friend, they used to have meals together at home, spent hours together, discussing art. They had so much in common. I was very upset when I heard of his death, John was shattered, although he didn’t talk about it to outsiders, but Stu was his closest friend. All, or mostly all northerners are warm + friendly. I’m glad you found them so. There was no harm in the Cavern I found. It was just a place where office people, students spent their lunch hour.” In fine condition, with central vertical and horizontal folds and show-through from writing to opposing sides. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope and a certificate of authenticity from Tracks.
