Signed book: In His Own Write. First UK edition. London: Jonathan Cape, 1964. Hardcover, 5.5 x 7, 78 pages. Signed inside in blue ballpoint by John Lennon, Brian Epstein, Matt Monroe, Brian Matthew (UK disc jockey), Mika Felix, Alan Watson (broadcaster), Lynette Rae, and one other, with a few adding inscriptions to "Valerie" and "Rosalind." In fine condition, with some light soiling to the edges. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Tracks and a letter of provenance, in part: "This signed copy of John Lennon's book 'In His Own Write' was obtained by my late parents at a charity event in 1965. I believe they won it in a raffle. The event was organized by the DJ Brian Matthew whom my parents knew and often went to his home, although I believe this event was a ball held at Eltham Palace." First published in London in 1964, Lennon's first literary effort is a thin volume comprised of nonsensical, disjointed short stories and line drawings. The first solo effort of any of the Beatles, In His Own Write remains a great showcase of Lennon's creative talent.
