Vintage ballpoint signature and inscription, “To Dennis, The one I’d get. Stop. Don’t Stop. Stop. With affection, your very, John Lennon. The Birthday to you,” on an off-white 2.25 x 2.75 heavy stock slip. RRAuction expert Roger Epperson states that this slip was trimmed from a 1969 birthday card, which was originally signed by all four Beatles. Above the beginning of Lennon’s inscription, there is a small ballpoint sketch of a rabbit done by Paul McCartney. Double matted with a color photo of Lennon performing, to an overall size of 13 x 14. A few light creases, a bit of trivial running of ink to a couple of words of inscription, and a few stray ink marks to bottom edge, otherwise fine condition.

Always a showman, Lennon found a unique way to send his regards in this telegraph-style message! Paul, apparently full of the creative juices as well, found an outlet via this card by adding his sketch. As many fans can remember, in 1969, the Beatles were close to disolving, releasing Abbey Road and Let It be, before finally calling it quits forever in 1970. In a sense, this card represents one of the final Lennon/McCartney collaborations! Pre-certified Roger Epperson/REAL and RRAuction COA.
