Original poster, 22 x 32.5, showing Lennon at the piano that was an insert in the 1971 album Imagine, signed in blue ballpoint “Love from John Lennon 72” adding a sketch of himself and his wife Yoko Ono. The poster is also signed by Yoko. Some slight wrinkling and irregular staining patterns to blank areas (from one time exposure to moisture), otherwise fine condition. The signature is extremely bold and unaffected. Accompanied by the unsigned original album and postcard.

According to the consignor, this item was obtained by a friend whose mother-in-law worked at the Harris County Courthouse in Houston, Texas as Yoko and her ex-husband were embroiled in a custody case over their daughter. As part of the legal turmoil, Yoko—and of course John—had to fly to Texas for a 1972 hearing. Following those proceedings, fans swarmed Lennon for autographs, including the aforementioned woman who carried this copy of Imagine. It was during that brief encounter that Lennon tore the plastic from the cover, reached inside, and removed the large poster to affix his signature. A remarkable in-person collector’s story and one of Lennon’s most cherished works. This is the largest Lennon image we have seen!
