This lot includes two beaded headdresses made of turkey feathers. 1) A very clean headdress consisting of white turkey feathers that have been dyed dark brown at the tips, wrapped at the quills with red felt and sewn to a tradecloth skull cap, which is marked Kentley Hats Felted Process. Fluffy white leg feathers have also been applied to the tips and bases of the large feathers, and the tips each bear a 9 length of dyed yellow horse hair. The headband of this piece features fine beadwork in white, orange, teal, blue, yellow, and black seed beeds in geometric designs. Over each temple is a 2.5 white felt round with orange, blue, black, and white beadwork. Two 7.5 long white fur tassels hang from each felt round. 2) An older looking headdress with long brown turkey feathers tipped in pink dyed leg feathers. The quills are wrapped with leg feathers and bound in yellow cloth and sewn onto a rawhide skullcap, which is unmarked. The headband features white, teal, blue, orange, red, and green seed beading in geometric designs. The temples are decorated with multi-length leather cords affixed to more leg feathers. This headdress is not as clean and crisp as the first in this lot, but it still a nice example of the craft. From the Tahoe Wovoka Estate Collection. Wovoka Collection HKA#63090
