<B>Beacon, NY</B></I> - $10 1929 Ty. 1 <B>The Fishkill NB</B></I> Ch. # 35<BR>This <B>Very Good-Fine</B></I> note is from strongly collected Dutchess County and is far more elusive in small size than large. We'd have classified it at the higher level but for some back soiling we consider inconsistent with that grade.This discovery becomes just the seventh 1929 note verified from here and only the second $10 Type 1. The other $10, grading Fine, was sold by NASCA in 1980 for $400 and then again in 2002 by R.M. Smythe for $1,760. The sole $5 Type 1, also a Fine, passed through a Smythe Sale in February of 2000 for $495. It was later consigned to us for our 2004 Florida United Numismatists auction, where it realized a somewhat stronger $6,325. Given the small population of notes from here and the wide range of previous auction results, it is somewhat speculative to predict a realization tonight.
