Batman Utility Belt Toy (Ideal, 1966). The Batman TV show debuted in 1966 and created a whole new wave of fans of the masked Crime Fighting Detective. With the wild success of the TV show, toy manufacturers were poised to capitalize on its success. This utility belt is just one example of the myriad of products that enticed children. This item consisted of a whole host of tools that any Caped Crusader needed to fight the villains of the world. The centerpiece of this toy set was the bright yellow flexible adjustable plastic belt (fitting waist sizes up to 32") to which the various implements could be attached. The items attached to the utility belt included a small flashlight, a grappling hook with rope, a black plastic batarang, and a gun that could shoot a message canister or a grenade. The last piece was of paramount importance to any hero fighting crime, the Batcuff. Amazingly, an original set of instructions is still intact which describes safe operation of the various components. A couple items have minor damage and the grenade has been glued to its shaft. Also, some items are no longer attached to the backing board and are loose in the box. The box is solid but has moderate overall wear, with some light creasing. Overall the toy set is in great condition. Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour.
