''Rules For Basketball'' signed by HOFer Edward J. Hickox. Booklet was written and first published in 1892 by Canadian-American Dr. James Naismith, who coined the name for the game and pioneered the sport, helping it to proliferate through YMCA's around the country. This edition of the booklet was reprinted in 1952 by the Pond-Ekberg Company in Springfield, Illinois. Signed ''Edward Hickox'' in blue ink above a stamp with his name and title, then the executive secretary of the Hall of Fame committee. Hickox also writes above his signature: ''George W. 'Doc' Jacobs has become a life member and founder in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Feb 16, 1959''. 8pp. booklet is bound in black cardboard covers with silver lettering, secured by two staples at spine. Near fine.
