Howard's sword and sorcery sensation, Kull of Atlantis, may have originally been created for a special paperback graphic novel format. Artist Gil Kane had pioneered the groundbreaking format for his own sword and sorcery graphic novel, <B>Blackmark</B></I>, published by Bantam Books in 1971.
