With this intriguing sketch, Barry Smith pays homage to painter/poet Dante Gabriel Rossetti's Sibylla Palmifera (1866). Rossetti's work was later published under the title Soul's Beauty in his sonnet sequence The House of Life (1870). As the literati may know, Sibyls are prophetesses -- and one of them, the Sibyl of Cumae, wrote her prophecies on palm leaves. This sensational drawing measures an overall 10" x 13.75", and aside from a ragged left edge, the art is in Excellent condition.

Shipping: Small Flat (view shipping information)
