First National Bank check No. 266 dated July 21, 1877 made payable to Hugo Borchardt in the amount of $200, from Sharps Rifle Co., signed by the treasurer and endorsed on reverse by Borchardt. Hugo Borchardt was a famous American inventor who worked with Sharps and invented a toggle link semi auto Borchardt pistol, many features of which George Luger, working for D.W.M. in Germany, appropriated. Luger secured a German patent which became "the Luger". Very good plus condition to near fine.
