Among this regalia was the flywhisk, in which materials that often included local wood, the tail of the exotic horse, and European trade beads, combined a culturally varied set of elements to convey a culturally central message of royal status and power. The whisk with the head conforms to the well-known beaded elephant masks of the Kuosi Society, found primarily among the Bamileke and associated with high ranking persons. That whisk has minor bead loss, fraying of fibers, and some hair loss to the tail. The bird form whisk has a few missing beads and minor hair loss.

Provenance: Gary Hendershott, Little Rock

Shipping: Requires 3rd Party Shipping (view shipping information)
