Bambi Original Studio Cell Copies & Original Timing Sheets
It is always exciting when we get a glimpse into the magical lost art of the original "Grand Old Men" who literally invented the language of animation and were responsible for some of the greatest animated features of all time. Perhaps the granddaddy of them all was Ollie Johnston who was involved in 100's of the classics of his craft (virtually all for Disney where he was considered a God), including "Pinocchio", "Fantasia", "Bambi", "Cinderella", "Alice in Wonderland", "Peter Pan", "Lady and the Tramp", "Sleeping Beauty", "101 Dalmatians", "Mary Poppins", and "The Jungle Book" to name just a few. He continued to be a much sought after consultant on animation up until his death in 2008 at the age of 95. This is an amazing glimpse into his genius. It was obtained by legendary ILM and Disney Special Effects Artist Kim Knowlton when she was still a student at the Walt Disney founded California Institute Of The Arts. Disney would supply their best students with actual production animation sheets and timing charts from some of their classic films to show them "how it was done". The original paper animator drawings themselves were kept in the vaults, but at the time of the original productions, special protection animation copies were created on the same format and registration keyed paper. This is a set of over 100 of these original production copies from scene 23 of the classic "Bambi" (1942), in which one of the fawns tries to get up then falls. Each of these original copies is stamped with the official COPY NOT ORIGINAL - COPYRIGHT WALT DISNEY PRODUCTIONS, and includes actual animator notations. In addition it comes with Ollie Johnston's (who created and directed this sequence among others) original timing sheets. A truly rare and wondrous Disney Animation collectable! Comes from Kim Knowlton's own personal collection and includes a Letter of Provenience from Ms. Knowlton.
