Ballard action custom target rifle, signed “Geo. C. Schoyen Denver, Colo”, approx. 28-1/4” heavy round barrel, .38-55 caliber, blue and case hardened finish, double set triggers, custom lever with wood insert, Schuetzen style stock and buttplate, palm rest of Schoyen type serial numbered to match. Weight is approx. 14lbs. The rifle shows 90-95% blue and case hardening applied at time of customization, with some drifting to the case hardening. The stocks are very good, showing a light old refinish and are still sharp. The butt plate and palm rest show 95% of a darkened old silver plate. The barrel is mounted with modern type blocks for a scope. There are a set of tap holes with tap screws and evidence of an earlier scope. The action is tight, the bore is near excellent. There is a bolt at the center of the frame, probably for setting the barrel, and probably of Schoyen design as it is also silver to match. Est.: $3,000-$6,000.
